I. SHAKTI PROGRAMME

Women Empowerment Programme through improved health is a social initiative of Spark Minda Foundation to promote safe menstrual management, family planning and reproductive health knowledge among the local community. The Programme aligns with the SDGs, 3, 5, 6, 11, 17.
Commitment to benefit 3000 women through Menstrual Hygiene, Family Planning & Reproductive Health registered with the United Nation – https://www.everywomaneverychild.org/commitment/spark-minda-foundation-and-pathfinder-international/. The organisation has till date covered 3761 women through this programme.

A. MENSTRUAL HYGIENE AWARENESS

The prime objective of the programme is to make women aware that access to safe and secure sanitation is one of the key human rights. This programme has been implemented in the villages of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Haryana.

B. FAMILY PLANNING AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH

The focus of the intervention was to create awareness about “Happy and Healthy Family”, also the concept “pregnancy should be by choice and not by chance” was recommended during the trainings.

C. SHAKTI IN PRISONS

During 2020-21, the Shakti programme was Introduced in the prisons of Haryana. This has been made possible with the collaboration of India Vision Foundation and Pathfinder International. The vision is to introduce the female inmates with menstrual hygiene management practices and to instill the attributes of hygiene and safe practices. The programme has been divided into three phases, the first part of which is to install sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators across 13 prisons of Haryana. This will be followed by awareness and training sessions. The final leg of the project will be focused on making the entire process sustainable, by manufacturing sanitary napkins in the prison itself. We have installed vending machines and incinerators in 4 prisons, namely, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Karnal and Faridabad.A book is also created for educational purposes, which will help the women to better understand the practices.

II. EYE HEALTH CARE

Eye Health Care plays a vital role in reaching the untreated people in rural areas. The village people are found to utilize less eye care services than the people in cities and the main reason is accessibility and affordability of the service. This is why it becomes very important to make them aware about the importance of medical care of their eyes.

III. BLOOD DONATION DRIVES

Spark Minda Foundation intervenes through its CSR campaigns to bridge the blood requirement gap by organising blood donation camps in group factories involving the nearby community with the help of Gram Panchayat, Rotary Club, Red Cross, National Thalassemia Society and hospitals.

IV. HEALTH CHCECK-UP DRIVES

With the objective of providing health related awareness, Spark Minda Foundation continuously conducts medical camps in the community nearby factory area to identify the basic healthcare needs for its redressal.
